| Cricket leagues in North West region
There are two very well established cricket leagues in North West region. American Recreation Cricket League (ARCL) & North West Cricket League (NWCL) has been a huge success in promoting cricket in the North West region, besides providing whole some entertainment.
ARCL Tennis Ball League
Founded in late 2001, American Recreational Cricket League (ARCL) is one of the earliest cricket leagues established in the Northwest. As the goal was recreational cricket, several non-stringent rules of the international version were introduced. Some of them being, the cricket ball was substituted by a hard tennis ball, only 8 players formed a team instead of the traditional 11. ARCL today proudly boasts of a total of 70 teams in the ongoing 2008 league, which also includes a league for the women's.
NWCL Cricket (Leather) Ball League
The NorthWest Cricket League (NWCL) was founded in early 1995 through the efforts of a handful of dedicated individuals. NWCL today consists of 20 teams, 10 in each division. Recently NWCL won the NWCup'08, posting wins over SCA, CCL, NCCA and BACA on consecutive days. NWCL Captain, Vijay Beniwal won the MVP of the tournament and Sandeep Parab won the best wicket-keeper award. Vijay Beniwal, Sandeep Parab, Srinivas Raghavan & Srikanth Sundergopalan of NWCL have been selected as probables for the NWR team, which is a great testimonial for the high standard of cricket being played here.
